John M. Hayes is currently the Supervisor of Special Education for the Ridgefield Park Board of Education in New Jersey. He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a background in teaching and has experience as a member of the Child Study Team. In 2020, John was honored as Teacher of the Year by a committee of administrators, parents, and peers for his dedication to the field of Special Education.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Monmouth University, as well as two Master of Arts in Education degrees from St. Peter's University. He also has Graduate Certificates in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Throughout his career, John has worked with uniquely abled learners in schools, medical facilities, and the natural environment. He is a passionate advocate for Social Skills instruction and is PEERS School-Based Certified through the Semel Institute at UCLA. John has developed inclusive peer modeling programs using the PEERS Curriculum. He also provides private social skills training and supervises ABA therapists during in-home programming.
John believes in the uniqueness and potential of all individuals, emphasizing that no one is "disabled." He is dedicated to providing the proper instruction, experience, and behavioral modifications to help all learners acquire knowledge and skills. John is committed to sharing his knowledge with children, parents, and educators to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for everyone.
